Former 5-star LB recruit Clifton Garrett leaves LSU
A former five-star linebacker recruit has left the LSU football program, according to a report from The New Orleans Times-Picayune that confirmed a report from 247Sports.com.
Clifton Garrett has left the program and intends to transfer to a junior college, according to the report.
"He's no longer with us, I don't know what his plans are," LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette told the Times-Picayune.
The 6'2" Garrett only played in three games for the Tigers in 2014, his freshman season, despite being the No. 24 ranked prep prospect in the country by Scout.com in 2014.

Garrett played in LSU's recent spring game and recorded one tackle, according to the Baton Rouge Advocate.
Garrett had had surgery in January 2014 to repair a torn labrum.
The departure leaves LSU with only eight scholarship linebackers headed into the 2015 season.
LSU opens the 2015 season on Sept. 5 at home against McNeese State.
