Nick Saban: I never was, never will be interested in Texas job
Nick Saban told an Alabama booster club Tuesday he was never interested in the Texas Longhorns head coaching job and that he never spoke to the program himself, according to TuscaloosaNews.com.
According to Saban, Texas contacted the Alabama coach's agent, but he never reciprocated interest.
“I have an agent, which most coaches have, and when somebody is interested in you, they call your agent, which they did,” Saban said Tuesday. “The agent calls you, and you tell the agent 'I'm interested' or 'I'm not interested.' So [Jimmy Sexton] called me about 15 times about Texas, and every time he called I said I'm not interested in talking to them, and I never will be. That's the story. He did his job, I did my job.”
Saban has been the subject of Texas coaching rumors for years. In December 2013, Saban signed a contract extension with Alabama through the 2022 season.
Current Longhorns coach Charlie Strong took over for the 2014 season after the retirement of Mack Brown.

Since taking over as coach of the Crimson Tide in 2007, Saban has won three national championships and owns a record of 86-17.
