UCLA CB Ishmael Adams charged with misdemeanor battery
UCLA cornerback Ishmael Adams was charged with misdemeanor battery on Monday for an August incident in which he allegedly used forced to steal an Uber driver’s cell phone, Los Angeles city attorney spokesman Rob Wilcox told ESPN.
Adams is set to be arraigned on Nov. 16 at the LAX Courthouse. If convicted, Adams could face a fine of up to $2,000 and six months in jail.
Adams, a first-team All-Pac-12 selection, was arrested on the morning of Aug. 30. Following the incident, Adams was suspended for three games, but he was reinstated to the team on Sept. 22 after the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said they would not file felony charges against Adams.
UCLA head coach Jim Mora said in September that Adams has “shown remorse for his actions,” adding that he has “come back with a great attitude.”
Since his return to the team after missing a quarter of the season, Adams has had eight tackles, two tackles for loss and one interception.
The Bruins will take on California on Thursday night.
