Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, Iowa lead College Football Playoff rankings

There is no change in the College Football Playoff rankings this week; Clemson is still on top, followed by Alabama, Oklahoma, and Iowa.

The 12–0 Tigers survived on the road against rival South Carolina on Saturday, winning 37–32 behind quarterback Deshaun Watson’s 114 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground. Their final test will come this Saturday in the ACC championship game against No. 10 North Carolina. 

Clemson has topped the rankings for five straight weeks. 

Alabama claimed the SEC West with a 29–13 win in the Iron Bowl over Auburn, and remains in the No. 2 spot. The Crimson Tide, who have the best strength of schedule in the nation, finish their season on Saturday against No. 18 Florida in the SEC Championship Game.

Oklahoma is still No. 3 after beating Oklahoma State 58–23 on the road behind quarterback Baker Mayfield’s three-touchdown performance. It was the school’s third-straight win over a ranked opponent, keeping them atop the Football Power Index for a second straight week.

Iowa finished the regular season unbeaten for the first time 93 years after a 28–20 win over Nebraska, and remains at No. 4 in this week’s rankings. Their strength of record ranks third in the nation. The Hawkeyes will play the Michigan State Spartans, who are ranked No. 5, in the Big Ten title game on Saturday.
