Report: Texas to interview Cal’s Tony Franklin for offensive coordinator job
Texas Longhorns football head coach Charlie Strong will interview California Golden Bears offensive coordinator Tony Franklin on Thursday, reports Orangebloods.com
Franklin will be the third candidate considered for the job. TCU co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Sonny Cumbie turned down an offer from Texas, and Tulsa coach Sterlin Gilbert was not offered a job after his interview on Wednesday.

The Cal Bears offense set school records in passing yardage (4,425), passing touchdowns (38) and total offense (6,293) for a single season in 2015. Franklin worked closely with star quarterback Jared Goff.
Strong assigned play-calling duties to coach Jay Norvell after a season-opening loss to the Notre Dame FIghting Irish in the first game of the year by coach Shawn Watson.
Texas finished the year 5–7 for seventh place in the Big 12 conference. Strong is 11–14 in his two season with the Longhorns.
