Arkansas junior wide receiver Dominique Reed left Saturday’s Liberty Bowl against Kansas State after a helmet-to-helmet collision.

On a 3rd-and-17 from deep inside Kansas State territory, Reed caught a short pass and ran downfield for a 15-yard gain. At the conclusion of the play, he ducked his head down to avoid contact, as sophomore defensive back Sean Newlan ran in to make the tackle.

Reed went down and was motionless. Trainers immediately ran out, and after over five minutes of medical attention, he was placed in a neck brace, loaded on to a stretcher, and carted off the field.

According to the ESPN game broadcast, Reed was awake, talking and moving his fingers before leaving the field.

After the game, head coach Bret Bielema said Reed was back with the team in the locker room and doing fine.

The catch was Reed’s first of the day. He entered with 27 grabs for 520 yards and six touchdowns on the year.
