Texas A&M hires Washington’s Scott Woodward as new athletic director
Texas A&Mannounced Friday that Washington’s Scott Woodward will be the school’s new athletic director.
Woodward had served in the same role at UW since 2008. He replaces Eric Hyman, who stepped down from his post earlier this week. Woodward will be formally introduced next week.
Woodward is a graduate of LSU and a native of Louisiana who served as LSU’s director of internal affairs from 2000–2004. He returns to the SEC on the athletics end after a tenure at Washington that included a $282 million renovation of Husky Stadium. He had a hand in the hirings of Steve Sarkisian and Chris Petersen as head football coaches. Washington’s athletic programs won seven national titles in that span.
During Woodward’s tenure, the football program made five straight bowls and the basketball team had Pac-12 success under Lorenzo Romar.
