Florida cornerback Jalen Tabor reacted with disdain to the announcement that the SEC had pulled in a record $527.4 million in revenue over 2014–15, calling the lack of pay for players a “modern form of slavery” in a tweet that has since been deleted.

Tabor apologized for the wording of the tweet, but stood by its message.

The SEC’s revenue total marks a 62% increase from 2013–14. SEC commissioner Mike Slive received $3.6 million in base compensation over 2014–15.
