Report: NCAA charges Ole Miss with rules violations in three sports
The NCAA has charged the University of Mississippi with rules violations in three sports, including football, reports Yahoo Sports’s Pat Forde.
The Rebels received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA for “roughly 30 violations,” according to the report. Women’s basketball and track and field were the other sports included in the notice.
Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork issued a statement saying the school is “working hard to seek a resolution” to the notice.
The NCAA’s look into Ole Miss has been longstanding. Yahoo Sports first reported an NCAA investigation in October 2014. Some of the violations reportedly occurred before Hugh Freeze took over as football coach in 2012.
It’s possible Freeze’s recruiting practices have been included in the NCAA charges. SEC officials “have voiced concerns” to the conference office about the Rebels’ recruiting, multiple sources told Forde.

In 2015, Ole Miss left tackle Laremy Tunsil missed seven games for accepting impermissible benefits. The Rebels’ current recruiting class is ranked third by Scout.
Ole Miss will have 90 days to respond to the NCAA allegations.
