Jim Harbaugh opens up about why he chose Michigan
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh opened up about why he decided to leave the NFL and return to his alma mater in the Player’s Tribune on Monday.
Harbugh, who grew up in Ann Arbor and spent time around the Michigan program while his father, Jack, was an assistant at the school, says he was drawn to the school by a sense of nostalgia.
“A lot of people probably have those kinds of memories from the places they grew up,” Harbaugh said. “I have my fondest here in Ann Arbor, the place I stayed the longest as a kid and that left the biggest impact on me. I have so much gratitude to the University of Michigan and to the people I’ve met who’ve shaped how I think in a very positive way. I can’t think of any place in the world I’d rather be.”

In his first season with the Wolverines, Harbaugh led the program to a 10–3 record and a No. 12 ranking in the final AP Poll. The 2015 season, which was capped by a 41–7 win over Florida in the Citrus Bowl, was the best for the program since 2011.
