Ex-ULM assistant Mario Price to join Davidson coaching staff
Former Louisiana-Monroe running backs and recruiting coordinator Mario Price will be the new special teams coordinator and running backs coach for Davidson coach Paul Nichols, according to a source.
This past season was Price’s first in his positions at Louisiana-Monroe. Before that, he was the Warhawks’ inside wide receivers coach for two years, coaching an All-Sun Belt receiver each season. He was a graduate assistant with the Warhawks in 2012, helping wide receiver Brent Leonard set a single-season school record for receptions (104) and finish No. 1 on the school’s career receptions list (209).
The rising 31-year-old Price was not retained when new Louisiana-Monroe coach Matt Viator was hired in December. Before his tenure with the Warhawks, Price was briefly Millsaps’s wide receivers coach and video coordinator prior to the 2012 season.
He was Texas A&M-Commerce’s passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach from 2010–11 after being an assistant coach and teacher at Waco (Texas) High for three years. A Forth Worth, Texas, native, Price was a special teams player and running back at Baylor from ’04–06 after spending a year as a cornerback at Army.
Davidson had a 2–9 record this past season under Nichols, who has yet to have a winning season in his three years with the Wildcats.
