Pac-12 to restrict transfers with history of misconduct
The Pac-12 presidents and chancellors passed a new policy Saturday that will restrict student-athletes who are ineligible from re-enrolling at their current university due to misconduct from transferring to another athletics program in the conference, according to ESPN.
The policy will apply to legal issues, like harassment and assault, as well as academic fraud. It will not affect athletes who are not qualified to compete at their schools due to poor academic performance.
Athletes, who must now disclose their eligibility status, can appeal if they are deemed to be disqualified from transferring.
"This is an important step to strengthen our student-athlete transfer admission processes and to address the safety of our students," said UCLA chancellor Gene Block.

The SEC already has a policy in place banning transfers who have been dismissed from their schools for serious misconduct.
