Ex-Baylor student to sue school over alleged Tevin Elliott sexual assault

A former Baylor University student is set to file a lawsuit against the school, claiming the university did not properly handle her sexual assault allegations against Tevin Elliott, reports the Waco Tribune-Herald.
Elliott, who played defensive end at Baylor, was convicted on two counts of sexually assaulting another student at a party. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison and fined $10,000 in January 2014.
According to a press release from an attorney for the alleged victim, the lawsuit claims that the school violated Title IX in its handling of sexual assault allegations and that the school was “deliberately indifference to complaints by student victims of rape.”
The school has recently found itself in hot water for the handling of sexual assault allegations against Elliott and others, including another former Baylor football player Sam Ukwuachu.
A report by ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” featured several women who said they were assaulted by Elliott. According to the report, the school failed to investigate, or properly investigate, several allegations of sexual assault.
The attorneys for the women will hold a press conference regarding the lawsuit on Thursday.
