Alabama coach Nick Saban seems unlikely to suspend left tackle Cam Robinson and cornerback Hootie Jones during the regular season after their off-season arrests.
Saban, speaking at SEC Media Days, said the two would not be suspended if they continue to “change their behavior.” Robinson and Jones were arrested for possession of weapons and marijuana in a public park in May, but their charges were dropped.
“Cam Robinson and Hootie were not charged with anything,” Saban said Wednesday. “I think the facts we have are a little different than sort of what was advertised. Both players have done a significant amount of things to change their behavior internally, whether it was police ride-around, whether it was community service, or juvenile groups that need positive role models and influence to make better choices and decisions.”

Saban expanded on his thoughts on the SEC Network.
In June, KNOE in Louisiana reported Robinson and Jones were suspended from the team immediately after the arrest. KNOE also reported the players were required to undergo weekly urine tests and meet with a mental health consultant in addition to the community service and police ride-along.
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema took a shot at Saban and the Crimson Tide about the situation during his Media Day press conference.
“You don’t have to ask me if I’m going to suspend anybody for the first game,” Bielema said. “It doesn’t come up in our program.”
