A group of Washington State football players were allegedly involved in a house party fight near the school’s campus early Saturday morning, according to the Seattle Times.

The players were reportedly setting off fireworks in the backyard of the house and pulling off pieces of a wooden railing. When asked to leave the party, the situation turned violent.

The incident left Washington State senior Alex Rodriguez with a broken jaw and another student with a concussion.

“All I remember is telling them to leave multiple times,” Rodriguez told the Times. “I came to on the ground with police and EMTs over me.”

Rodriguez underwent surgery at Pullman Regional Hospital to treat his injuries. He said he now has two titanium plates in his face and his mouth is wired shut after facial reconstructive surgery.

According to witnesses, Rodriguez was knocked to the ground and kicked in the face several times.

Part of the fight was captured on video.

More than six players have been named as persons of interest as the Pullman Police Department investigates the situation.

The team is aware of the incident.

“We have high expectations for the conduct of the WSU student-athletes, and treat any alleged allegations with the utmost transparency,” said WSU athletic director Bill Moos, adding that the school will refrain from further comment until the investigation is completed.
