Five-Star Shooting Guard Cam Thomas Motivated After McDonald’s Snub
On Thursday when SI All-American broke the news of the highly anticipated McDonald’s All American roster, another list began to circulate all over different social media platforms: The All-American Snub List.

Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) shooting guard Cam Thomas.
Makes sense since Thomas led the Nike EYBL, by far the toughest summer shoe circuit in the country, in scoring (29.5 points per game) and will finish at Oak Hill as the Warriors’ all-time leading scorer.
This season, Thomas, an LSU signee, is averaging 31 points a game for the Warriors who check in at No. 2 in the country with a 27-1 record.
“It was disappointing at first, I won’t lie,” Thomas said. “That was one of my goals, but it’s not something that I can control so I have to use it as fuel.”
That’s bad news for Oak Hill opponents going forward.
At 6-foot-4, Thomas is, arguably, the most gifted scorer in the country, with the ability to score on all three levels efficiently.
Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said Thomas “was on a very short list” for the best to ever play at Oak Hill, a big endorsement since Smith has coached 33 McDonald’s All Americans, including Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony.
Still, Thomas’ mature approach to being left out of the prestigious game was a process. He had an extensive talk with his mother, Leslie, which helped to put things into perspective.
“She just helped me refocus on what’s in front of me,” Thomas said. “It hurt, but it’s behind me now. My only goal right now is to win a GEICO Nationals title. I don’t want to do it to prove that I should’ve been in the game; I’ve already proven that. I want to win for my team, and then I’ll focus on LSU. This is just part of my story, but it’s just gonna make me better.”
