Five-Star QB Brock Vandagriff Decommits From Oklahoma

Five-star QB Brock Vandagriff announced his decommitment from the Sooners on Wednesday.

Five-star 2021 recruit Brock Vandagriff has decommitted from Oklahoma.

Vandagriff posted a statement to Twitter on Wednesday to thank coach Lincoln Riley for the opportunity and said he'll be opening his recruitment again.

"These last couple of months have brought to my attention how hard it is going to be for me to attend college so far away from home," he said. "I would like to thank Coach Lincoln Riley, Coach [Shane] Beamer, Coach [Drew] Hill and the rest of the football staff at Oklahoma for the opportunity. With that being said, I will be decommitting and opening my recruitment back up."

Vandagriff is the top-ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2021 recruiting class and No. 8 overall player in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite. The 6'2 1/2", 199-pound QB committed to the Sooners on June 20. He chose Oklahoma over Alabama, LSU, Florida, Georgia and several other programs.

The Sooners will see starting quarterback Jalen Hurts depart, but currently have former five-star recruit Spencer Rattler and former four-star Tanner Mordecai on the roster.

Vandagriff plays at Prince Avenue Christian School in Bogart, Ga., which is only 14 miles from the University of Georgia. He can expect plenty of recruiters to reach out to him when the dead period ends next week, and the spring evaluation period is coming up.
