The Pac-12 announced that it will play a conference-only schedule in fall 2020 for several sports, including football.
The new Pac-12 football schedule will now have competition begin September 19th and will have three weekend dates ready to be used for the championship, with best case being December 4th.
The schedule is also expected to include a 10-game regular-season, with each team playing its division opponents and five crossover games, with the option to go down to a 9 game schedule if need be.
Considering the coronavirus case counts and curve trajectories in several states with Pac-12 schools, it’s a fairly aggressive approach that spans a maximum of 14 weeks.
The conference canceled all non-conference games on July 10th, after the Big Ten made the same move.
The SEC, ACC, and Big 12 are all working on models that would allow for at least one non-conference opponent.
