While the Big 12's return may not have gone quite as planned, the Big Ten could be nearing a decision to start their season.

SI senior writer Pat Forde breaks down the return of college football, that while some of it has returned, the fact that not all conferences are playing is extremely noticeable.

The Big 12's decision to allow one non-conference game has backfired, as three Big 12 teams got beaten handily by Sun Belt teams, this could weaken the strength of schedule for those Big 12 teams at the top.

However, some good news for Big Ten fans as it seems that the conference could be nearing a decision to play football this year, as people within the conference are pushing for it and a vote for the schools to return to game action as soon as October could be happening soon.
