Lionel Messi Wears Ridiculous Red Suit to Ballon d'Or Ceremony

Lionel Messi stood out at the FIFA Ballon d'Or award ceremony today, though perhaps not in the way he had hoped. While he did not win the award for best player for the first time since the FIFA World Player and Ballon d'Or awards merged, Messi made his bid for most fashion forward. The burgundy dinner jacket came as no surprise, though, given what he accepted the award in last year:

Cristiano Ronaldo only beat out Messi because of a deadline extension anyway, so maybe they should consider a re-vote in light of these sartorial developments.
