Wayne Gretzky and Conan O'Brien Played in a Fake Band Together on SNL in 1989

Friday January 24th, 2014

Last night Wayne Gretzky appeared on Conan, but to most people's surprise, it wasn't the first time the Great One and the talk show's titular host had shared screen time. Turns out when Gretzky hosted Saturday Night Live in 1989, O'Brien had just started there as a writer, and for one sketch, they played in the same fictional band together -- #99 singing, Coco drumming.

Gretzky also talked about his somewhat successful hockey career, if you're into that.
