German soccer fans console young defender after costly mistake
VfB Stuttgart is dead last in the Bundesliga and risks being relegated to the second division for the first time since 1977. Even so, the Stuttgart fans treated the young defender who made a crucial mistake in Friday's loss to Dortmund with compassion.
Late in Friday's game, with Stuttgart trailing 2-1, Baumgartl made a lazy pass that was picked off by Dortmund's Marco Reus. Reus scored easily to put Dortmund up 3-1 in the 89th minute.

Stuttgart's Georg Niedermeier scored in stoppage time, but because of Baumgartl's mistake it wasn't enough.
Still, the Stuttgart fans were supportive of Baumgartl after the game. He was clearly distraught, but he hugged it out with a few people in the stands.
