Negotiations on Randall Cobb's new contract with the Packers didn't take place in a dark, smoke-filled room. No, Cobb was actually at a wedding in Kentucky while his agent hammered out the details with Green Bay brass.

Cobb was a groomsman at the wedding of his college quarterback, Morgan Newton, and had to excuse himself at various points throughout the weekend to confer with his agent.

“Saturday morning, I told [agent] Jimmy [Sexton] to get it done. I was scared,” Cobb told ESPN Wisconsin. “No lie. I didn’t know if Green Bay had given up on me or what, since we hadn’t heard from them in two weeks, since their last offer. I was nervous. I said, ‘Get it done. Whatever I have to do to get back to Green Bay, just make it happen.’"

Eventually Sexton thought he struck a deal that his client would find agreeable and called Cobb to let him know.

"I got the call right after we finished taking pictures. We were getting ready to leave," Cobb said. "I walked outside the church and I was able to finish it."

Cobb flew to Green Bay on Monday, so he and the Packers will live happily ever after.
