Rays rookie Allan Dykstra fouled a ball off his face
Tampa Bay Rays rookie Allan Dykstra fouled a ball off his own face during batting practice on Monday. Ouch.
Rays rookie Allan Dykstra worked hard to get to the major leagues. And what happened when he finally arrived? He fouled a batting practice bunt attempt right into his own face. Welcome to bigs, kid.
Teammate Tim Beckham certainly felt Dykstra's pain, and may have uttered a naughty word in response.
The mishap left Dykstra with a pretty nasty black eye.

On the whole, it ended up being a pretty good day for Dykstra, though. In the fourth inning, he picked up his first career hit on a single to left field off of R.A. Dickey.
