Gokul Venkatachalam was named co-champion of the 2015 Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday, and he relied on the jersey of a fellow championship seeker for good luck.

Venkatachalam showed reporters that he was wearing a LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers jersey under his dress shirt before competition began Thursday, and it appears it served him well.

The 13-year-old St. Louis native correctly spelled nunatak to grab a piece of the 2015 title, which he shares with 12-year-old Vanya Shivahankar.

Before the competition began, Venkatachalam was showing off his love for LeBron, posting a spoof of James's famous "The Decision" special to announce he was taking his talents to the Spelling Bee.
