Hartford Yard Goats unveil logos with Whalers-inspired color scheme

Four months after announcing it will be known as the Yard Goats, the new Double A baseball team in Hartford has revealed its logo. It's a goat chewing on a baseball bat.
A member of the San Diego branding firm that created the logo explained that it's “a tribute to the bold, tough and resilient spirit of Hartford.”
The logo includes a couple of references to Hartford’s history. The blue-and-green color scheme is a nod to the old Hartford Whalers NHL team and the font, as UConn professor Anne Oeldorf-Hirsch pointed out, is an homage to the old New York, New Haven and Hartford railroad.

The logos were unveiled at the XL Center in downtown Hartford, the former home of the Whalers. Children in goat hats and actual living goats were in attendance.
