A tribute to Steve Weatherford’s tenure with the Giants

Friday September 4th, 2015

To reduce their roster down to 53 men by Friday’s deadline, the New York Giants cut ties with punter Steve Weatherford.

Weatherford, 32, spent four seasons with the Giants, after playing seven years for the Saints, Chiefs, Jaguars and Jets. He signed a five-year contract in 2012 after winning Super Bowl XLVI with New York. It was Weatherford’s punt in the opening quarter that helped force a safety to get the Giants on the board.

But Weatherford wasn’t just a contributor to the team’s on-field success. He was a regular contributor to fans' lives off the field

Let’s remember the greatest hits of this physically fit and outspoken punter.

March 4, 2013: How are you so sexy?

Oct. 21, 2013: Becomes Superman for one play

Jan. 23, 2014: Shows his abs in front of a studio audience

April 28, 2014: Behind the Body

Steve Weatherford speaks with SI’s Sarah Toland about his workouts. “My motto is ‘look good, feel good, play good, paid good,’” he says.

Dec. 7, 2014: Shoving match with Coach Tom Quinn

June 29, 2015: Throws shade at Tim Tebow

Aug. 5, 2015: Bench-presses Rick Reilly

So long, Steve. Here’s to hoping you find a new job soon.
