The Boston-native is a die-hard Patriots fan but likely has a soft spot for the Philly team after playing Vince Papale, a 30-year-old rookie who joined the Eagles in 1976 without any college football experience.

Eagles fans were particularly excited about the arrival of the Pope in town in the previous months, with one fan starting a petition to ask the Holy Father to bless quarterback Sam Bradford’s knees, and a local paper asking Pope Francis to intercede after the team started 2-0.
