Watch: NYC mayor de Blasio honors bet, sings in Royals jersey and shades

New York City may be down in the dumps due to the Mets’ World Series loss, but now their moods will surely be lifted.

Mayor Bill de Blasio held up his end of a World Series wager with Kansas City mayor Sly James by singing “Kansas City” in a room filled with ballerinas.

The video from de Blasio’s official YouTube page is aptly titled “‘Kansas City,’ like you've never heard it sung before!”

That’s right. I have never heard “Kansas City” performed by a 56-year-old man who holds public office, wearing what appears to be a Salvador Perez jersey over a shirt and tie, while wearing a top hat and Wayfarers.

If the Mets had won, mayor James would have performed Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.”

Honestly, the way de Blasio is performing, I’d leave him out there for another song.
