Manny Machado wins Best of Breed at Westminster dog show

Manny Machado, the Xoloitzcuintli, not the Orioles third baseman, was a big winner at the Westminster Dog Show.

Two months before the Orioles’ first game, Manny Machado already has a big win.

On Monday, Manny Machado the Xoloitzcuintli (a Mexican hairless breed) won Best of Breed at the Westminster dog show, which caught the eye of Baltimore teammate Adam Jones.

Free Rangers season tickets to any fan who hits a homer

Scott Allen from The Washington Post caught up with Manny’s trainer, Lynda Hylton, who lives in the same town where Machado played A ball.

“The name is just one of those that flows so easily,” Hylton told the Post. “And Manny Machado, he’s such a great guy. You don’t ever name a dog after a guy who’s a butt-head. Without asking Mr. Machado if it would bother him if he would mind having a dog named after him, we just did it. He’s just a super dog.”

Yeah, but can he win a Gold Glove?
