WWE signs former NFL player Brennan Williams

The WWE has signed former Texans draft pick Brennan Williams to train at the company’s Performance Center in Florida.

Former Texans third-round pick Brennan Williams has been signed to the WWE to work at the company’s training grounds in Florida after taking up professional wrestling in 2015.

Williams was a big fan of the WWE while he was still pursuing an NFL career, frequently appearing on WWE on Raw reaction show “Straight Shoot” on YouTube. He and sat down to talk about his love of pro wrestling and anime with Extra Mustard in July 2015, during which he mentioned his hopes on a future career with the sports entertainment leader.

Absolutely. I’m two hours away from the NXT Performance Center up in Full Sail, so that’s always an option. I’ve made a bunch of great connections just in the last couple years.

The announcement from WWE notes that Williams began his training with WWE Hall of Famer Booker T at his Texas-based Reality of Wrestling promotion.

The connection between football and pro wrestling has always been strong, with many former college stars going on to successful careers in the WWE.
