NBA players conned for sneakers by man posing as Adele’s manager

A south Florida based con man scammed NBA players for free sneakers by posing as the manager for singer Adele, the Miami Heraldreports.

Players including Paul George, Victor Oladipo and retired Pistons guard Richard Hamilton sent shoes to Justin Jackson, according to arrest warrants obtained by the Herald. Jackson also reached out to players including Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony and Bismack Biyombo, suggesting the shoes would be used as part of a charity auction.

Jackson and his wife were charged with more than a dozen felonies this week. They were originally arrested in May for posing as Adele’s manager to obtain free tickets to a Kendrick Lamar concert.

The report details that Jackson also made a fake email to pose as a manager for soccer star Lionel Messi to help corroborate his shoe requests and also reached out to musicians including Chris Brown and Katy Perry asking for “birthday videos for a ‘dear friend,’” and was rebuffed.
