Daily fantasy sports will continue in Massachusetts, but with certain regulations, attorney general Maura Healey said Thursday.

Healey announced a proposal that would ban anyone under the age of 21 from participating in daily fantasy sports, and also would make advertising the contests at schools illegal.

“These regulations are a first of their kind for the daily fantasy sports industry and they focus on protecting minors, ensuring truthful advertising, bringing more transparency to the industry and leveling the playing field for all consumers,” Healey said in a statement.

New York attorney general Eric Schneiderman sent cease-and-desist letters to DraftKings and FanDuel last week after ruling the contests illegal games of chance. The two companies are suing him.
