Ryan Reynolds, Michael B. Jordan Invest in Alpine F1 Team

Formula One racing continues to grow in the United States, and it appears Hollywood is getting in on the action. F1 announced Monday that Alpine has secured €200 million ($218.3 million) from a group of investors that includes Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds is best known for his role as Marvel’s Deadpool in the movie franchise of the same name. The investors group is composed of Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments. Fellow actors Michael B. Jordan and Rob McElhenney also invested in the F1 team, according to ESPN and The New York Times.

The group acquired a 24% stake in the F1 team, resulting in a total valuation of approximately €900 million ($982.57 million). Alpine currently ranks fifth in the constructor’s championship standings.

Jordan is another movie star whose fame has reached new heights in recent years, thanks to his leading role in the Creed movie franchise. McElhenney is best known for his role as Mac on the comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Reynolds and McElhenney bought the Welsh football team Wrexham AFC in November 2020 and have been at the helm as the club has found new life. The team was promoted back to the League 2 of the English Football League after 15 years in April.
