Tiger and Phil are set to tee off in the early afternoon on Nov. 23, the Friday after Thanksgiving.
"The Match" between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will take place on Nov. 23, the Friday after Thanksgiving. The $9 million, winner-take-all match is set to start at 3:00 p.m. ET at Shadow Creek golf course in Las Vegas, Nev.
The head-to-head match was initially teased as a primetime tee off, but The Match will now begin in the afternoon and will not be open for the public to attend - or to watch. The on-site audience will be limited to VIP guests, while the match will be broadcast on pay-per-view television.
Mickelson, 48, and Woods, 42, are long-time rivals on the golf course but their relationship has turned into more of a friendship in recent years. The two played practice rounds together at the Masters, the WGC-Bridgestone and they were grouped together during the first two rounds of the Players Championship. Mickelson and Woods worked together as part of the U.S. Ryder Cup, where they went a combined 0–6, and Presidents Cup efforts.
The golf legends have won a combined 19 majors going into November's Thanksgiving weekend showdown.
