Billy Horschel (Ralph Lauren | FootJoy)
The biggest fashion story of the week was FootJoy’s new classic-looking shoes. We’ve seen a few players sporting them since the restart, but FJ was in full pre-launch mode with these at Winged Foot. Billy Horschel, who has laced up Icons for years, gave these new shoes some serious love on social media during the week. This navy and white colorway is striking and puts a modern spin on a traditional spectator style. We can’t wait for them to hit retail.
Erik van Rooyen (Greyson Clothiers | Ecco)
We are running out of superlatives to describe this guy’s style swagger. Over the last couple of years, he has made joggers on the course a certified vibe and worn bold prints better than anyone in the game. His latest flex? A luxurious cashmere sweater with the silhouette of a stalking wolf.
Btw, Greyson’s color palette for fall is fantastic. If you are looking to escape the default navy blues, greys, and black for the season, grab a pair of trousers in an Eastern Fur colorway like Erik van Rooyen did here.
Dustin Johnson (Adidas Golf)
We are definitely in vest season and no one wears a technical vest better than Dustin Johnson right now. The tailoring was on point and his colors synced up beautifully. If you are using DJ’s look for inspiration this fall, make sure your navy blues match perfectly. This may sound easier than it is as different brands have different shades of navy. The slightest variation can throw off an entire fit.
Andy Ogletree (Peter Millar | FootJoy)
We’re always curious to see what the amateurs wear. Most just rock their templated college kits. On the other hand, Andy Ogletree brought a professional-level suitcase to Winged Foot. Throughout the tournament, he unpacked stylish fits from Peter Millar and those new shoes from FootJoy. We can tell this guy has some fashion sense.
Rickie Fowler (Puma Golf)
Best lid goes to Rickie Fowler and Puma for this Mamaronek City Cap with a vintage script across the front. If you were alive during the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, you likely rocked a Starter cap of your favorite sports team with this font. And, if you were really on-trend, it was corduroy. Safe to say we’ve been on board with Puma’s caps since we saw them at the PGA Show in January. In fact, we a dished out a GolfThreads Style Award to the Puma team for the concept.
Jordan Spieth (Under Armour)
Jordan Spieth he wore a vintage version of the Under Armour Drive One golf shoes. Maybe he was hoping to recapture some of the magic from Chambers Bay circa 2015?
Justin Thomas | Billy Horschel (Ralph Lauren | FootJoy)
Justin Thomas and Billy Horschel showed off the difference between Polo Golf and RLX. JT looked clean, classic, and all-American in the blue and white from Polo Golf. Billy-Ho gave us a sportier, preppy look from RLX. What’s your preference?
Henrik Stenson (Hugo Boss | Ecco)
We saw some bad red, white, and blue combinations (ahem….Nike). Henrik Stenson showed us how to do it right.
Zach Johnson (Kjus | FootJoy)
Another cool shade of blue that caught our eye — Zach Johnson matched his technical vest with his long sleeve polo.
Adam Hadwin (Levelwear)
Autumnal hues are in full swing and Adam Hadwin brought some serious fall feels to the course on Friday. If olive green and charcoal don’t get you in the mood for some pumpkin pie and bourbon, we’re not sure what will.
Jason Kokrak (William Murray Golf & FootJoy)
The Keep ‘Em Coming Polo by William Murray Golf brought a little levity to the challenge of Winged Foot Golf Club. The zig-zag navy and yellow pattern on this shirt is actually an array of froth-covered pint glasses, frozen mugs and bottles of ale. We love beer.
