Another playoff, another what-could-have-been for the picks and Joaquin Niemann.

Our favorite, Niemann, did not record a single bogey the entire week until the first playoff hole. That lone blemish did not allow the Chilean to continue and opened the door for Australian Cam Davis to ultimately outlast Troy Merritt in five playoff holes and win the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Davis' first on the PGA Tour. For Niemann, he notched his third runner-up finish on the season and second heartbreak in a playoff.

Elsewhere, Doc Redman and Chez Reavie both missed the cut for us after promising first-round starts.

Now, after a one-year absence, we finally head back to the Midwest’s most beloved stop on Tour, the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. What started as the Quad Cities Open, the John Deere Classic is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The field only includes five of the world's top-50 players as many are preparing for next week’s British Open at Royal St. George’s. So, like many years prior, the John Deere will offer a great chance for lesser name players to clinch their first victory on Tour.

According to William Hill, American Daniel Berger is the clear favorite at 10-1. He is making his first start since his top-10 U.S. Open finish. Next up is 2014 champion Brian Harman at 14-1. Right behind is Korean Sungjae Im at 16-1 after his top-10 finish last week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Right behind is Russell Henley (18-1 odds) — after two straight top-20 finishes — and Kevin Streelman (22-1) closes out the field's top notables.

For our favorite, we’re going with the value in Streelman, who narrowly missed the cut at a course he loves — TPC River Highlands, host site for the Travelers Championship. However, let’s not forget the form he was in prior to that missed cut — four straight top-20 finishes. The Illinois native owns three top-10 finishes at the John Deere Classic, so look for Streelman to right the ship against a weaker field.

For a midrange pick, we’re going with an in-form Hank Lebioda at 40-1. Lebioda just recorded consecutive top-5 finishes at the Travelers Championship and Rocket Mortgage Classic. His price is certainly a bit high now, but on this shorter and gettable track, putting will be key. Lebioda is currently fourth in strokes gained: putting in his last 24 rounds. Over that same timeframe, he is first in total strokes gained, so Lebioda should be able to ride the momentum for another week.

For a deep sleeper, Satoshi Kodaira at 125-1 could make some noise. His previous four results prior to a missed cut last week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic were 36-19-13-11. Those results have certainly gone a bit further down the leaderboard each week, but in Kodaira’s last 16 competitive rounds, he’s broken 70 nine times. We would not be shocked if Kodaira is a factor this week at the John Deere Classic.
