Golf News: PGA Tour's Nelson event will return to Las Colinas

A source close to the AT&T Byron Nelson tells Morning Read that the long-running Dallas tournament, which is in its final year at Trinity Forest, will return to the TPC course in Irving in 2021

Confirmed: By a Morning Read source close to the tournament, that the AT&T Byron Nelson will move to TPC at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas, in 2021. The tournament, a long-running Dallas stop on the PGA Tour, moved to the new Trinity Forest Golf Club southeast of downtown in 2018. This year’s event will be the third at Trinity Forest, a Bill Coore-Ben Crenshaw design on the site of a treeless, links-style former landfill. The Tour announced two weeks ago that it would be moving the Nelson after this year’s tournament, which is scheduled for May 7-10. The Nelson, which was established in 1944 as the Texas Victory Open, was played at TPC Las Colinas from 1986 to 1993. The tournament is named after the late Byron Nelson, a native Texan and one of the game’s giants who retired in 1946 at age 34 with 64 PGA Tour victories, including five major championships.
