Golf news: Tiger Woods, caddie face lawsuit by fan after incident at PGA Tour event

Florida man claims that he was trying to take a selfie with Woods at the 2018 Valspar Championship when he was injured after being shoved by caddie Joe LaCava

Sued: Tiger Woods and his caddie, Joe LaCava, by a Florida man who claims that he was injured after being shoved during the 2018 Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla., according to a Tampa Bay Timesreport Wednesday. In the civil complaint, which was filed Tuesday in Pinellas County, Brian Borruso said he was shoved by LaCava while trying to take a selfie with Woods in the background and fell on the 13th hole during the third round at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course. Borruso, 46, of Bayonet Point in nearby Pasco County, alleges that he was hospitalized and treated for his injuries. The suit accuses LaCava of negligence, culpable negligence and battery. Woods was named as a defendant because the lawsuit claimed that he has employer liability for the actions of his caddie. Borruso is seeking more than $30,000 in damages, according to the report. Attorney Josh Dreschel of the Josh Firm in St. Petersburg told the Times that the PGA Tour has “refused to cooperate” in the plaintiff’s investigation, declining to provide video of the incident without a court order.
