2020 RBC Heritage: Viewer’s guide, TV times, how to watch

After a successful first event back from the three-month coronavirus pandemic last week, the PGA Tour rolls on to the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links in the Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

This week marks the 52nd playing of the event, with past champions reading like a roll call from the World Golf Hall of Fame. Players such as the late Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, Hale Irwin, Bernhard Langer, Johnny Miller, Greg Norman, Nick Price, Tom Watson and the late Payne Stewart have won at Harbour Town.

Last year, C.T. Pan held off Matt Kuchar by one stroke for his lone Tour victory as both players closed with 4-under 67s. Pan’s tournament-low-tying second round of 65 proved to be the difference maker.

This year’s field is shaping up to be the best ever. An astounding 114 PGA Tour winners were ready to peg it on Thursday before Kevin Na joined Scottie Scheffler in withdrawing Tuesday, trimming the field size to 152. No alternates will be added unless the size drops below 144. Still, the number of winners is the most in a tournament since the Tour started keeping track of such records 20 years ago.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, the top-ranked player in the world, will be returning to Hilton Head for the first time since 2009, and American Brooks Koepka will be making his debut in the event. The only players missing from the world top 10 this week will be No. 7 Patrick Cantlay and No. 8 Adam Scott.

For the second consecutive week, TV viewers will notice a dearth of spectators as they remain barred through at least the first five tournaments in the PGA Tour’s revised 2020 schedule. With that said, the broadcast will look similar to last week’s, with Golf Channel and CBS providing coverage.
