Rickie Fowler Literally Shrugged Off a Fan That Chirped Him After Missed Par Putt

Rickie Fowler has looked cool, calm and collected through the first 27 holes of the 2023 U.S. Open.
If fans needed any further evidence of how well the 34-year-old is managing the pressure of sitting at the top of the leaderboard at Los Angeles Country Club, he gave the latest example of his nonchalance early in his second round.
After rattling off three straight birdies to begin his round on Friday, Fowler found himself with a lengthy par putt on the par-3 7th hole. He left the attempt well short and as he walked up to his ball, a fan could be heard yelling from off the green, “what are you doing?” at the tournament leader.
Fowler took the chirp in stride, turning to face the unknown fan and shrugging before tapping in his bogey putt.

Fowler clearly didn’t lose any time thinking about the vocal member of the crowd at LACC. He followed up the dropped shot with a birdie at No. 8 to move back up to 11 under, two shots clear of Xander Schauffele and Wyndham Clark at the time.
The 2023 U.S. Open has already been a magical one for Fowler, who matched Schauffele with a 62 on Thursday to set the new single-round tournament record. Time will tell if he can maintain his lighthearted nature as the pressure mounts over the weekend.
