Tiger Woods hit chip shots at Liberty National on Tuesday, marking one of his first public appearances on a driving range since undergoing ankle surgery after the Masters

Woods, 47, was joined by Rickie Fowler and Will Zalatoris during a teaching clinic for his foundation’s annual event, the Nexus Cup.

The founders of Eastside Golf, a golf apparel company, were in attendance at the clinic and captured its duration on Instagram live. Woods answered questions along with Fowler and Zalatoris, and hit the occasional short game shot, including one-handed chips. Woods did not take any full swings.

He wore shorts, exposing his injured right leg which was protected by a black compression sleeve.

The 20-minute video of the driving range session can be viewed in its entirety below.

Woods last competed on the PGA Tour at this year’s Masters. He withdrew while play was suspended due to weather during the third round after reaggravating his plantar fasciitis.

On April 19, Woods had surgery at the HSS Special Medicine Institute in New York to address the arthritis issues that stemmed from his ankle injury. According to a statement posted to Woods’ Twitter account, the 15-time major champion underwent a subtalar (joint just below the ankle) fusion procedure to address arthritis caused by his previous talus (ankle) fracture. Since returning to competition after his February 2021 single-car crash, Woods has played in just five official tournaments.

Zalatoris has also been on an extended break from the PGA Tour since having back surgery for a herniated disc last August. Both Woods and Zalatoris appear to be on the road to recovery.
