Padraig Harrington discusses PGA, crowd-surfing at Ryder Cup
Ryder Cup European team captain Padraig Harrington joins the show to share how his Ryder Cup team is shaping up. He also reveals some favorite memories of past Ryder Cups, such as when he went crowd-surfing after a Ryder Cup victory in his native Ireland in 2006. Harrington lost a shoe in that melee at the K Club. Harrington considers that moment not just an amazing golf experience but a "life moment," as well.
Even though he won three majors, Harrington, 49, has his share of regrets in majors, and he reveals a few moments he'd like to have back. He vividly recalls being near second place with nine holes to go at Kiawah Island in the 2012 PGA Championship, but "the clubhouse couldn't come quickly enough." He says he was just not in the winning mental space to finish strongly.
Harrington also looks ahead to this week's PGA Championship at Kiawah Island, and recalls winning a team event at that course with fellow Irishman Paul McGinley.
Harrington conducted this interview in his home practice studio while sitting on a medicine ball, and he took the final 15 minutes to share some tips for our golf games, including how to hit an 80-yard approach, the proper chipping posture, technique for long bunker shots and more.
