Despite so much controversy swirling about his drop from an embedded ball last weekend, Patrick Reed crafted a five-shot victory at the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open with a stunning short game. “Grill Room” co-hosts Bob Bubka and Jay Randolph Jr. discuss Reed's victory at Torrey Pines from several angles. Bubka questions how CBS’ announcers can dispute a decision by a PGA Tour rules official, but Randolph counters that the younger generation of touring pros needs to do a better job of policing themselves. Instructor David Leadbetter calls the ordeal “a storm in a teacup to try to make something out of nothing. If people knew the real Patrick, they really wouldn’t say the nasty things they say on social media.” Bubka points to the Tour’s gaming initiatives and cautions, “When you try to marry gambling and golf and rules, there’s going to be problems.” Bubka and Randolph shift gears to congratulate Paul Casey on his 15th victory on the European Tour before previewing this week’s big events: the PGA Tour’s Waste Management Phoenix Open and the European Tour’s Saudi International.
