Teeth of the Dog, Reviewed

Pete Dye's Teeth of the Dog design is somewhat otherworldly as the seven oceanside holes at the Dominican Republic's Casa de Campo Resort and Villas destination will leave golfers asking 'Is this heaven?'

In the late Pete Dye's eyes, his Teeth of the Dog design at Casa de Campo Resort and Villas is only partly his doing. “I created 11 holes and God created seven,” he once said. 

For all of the sterling work that Dye created through the years, he often viewed Teeth of the Dog as his "best course." Opened in 1971, the 7,000-acre luxury resort destination sits regally along the southeast coastline of the Dominican Republic, just outside La Romana.

While there are 11 exquisite inland holes, it's the seven oceanside holes — 5 through 8 and 15 through 17 — that leave golfers wondering if they have gone to heaven.
