Stephen Curry has an alias on Uber, but that doesn't stop chatty drivers

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is a known Uber rider and on Tuesday described what it’s like to be the reigning MVP inside vehicles with drivers who quickly turn the conversation to basketball.
Speaking at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco, Curry went through a lightning round of questions so the crowd could get to know him better, and he picked Uber over Lyft for his ride-sharing app needs.
“Those rides with drivers are amazing,” Curry said, smiling. “They are like the biggest fans, and they tell me ... they’re like fan/coach/GM/owner/aspiring basketball player themselves, so those rides are so entertaining because I have an alias, but I get in and they recognize it’s me, and it’s usually a fun ride.”
Curry revealed in June during the NBA Finals that he uses Uber, which often leads to humorous reactions from the drivers when he enters their vehicles.
“I just kind of laugh and chuckle,” Curry said, “because they are surprised that I’m getting in there too.”

Curry addressed the question of what was the one app he could not live without and said it was Instagram. He has more than 13 million followers on Instagram, which he joined in 2014.
“My social life is a life-or-death situation,” joked Curry, who picked Instagram over Snapchat.
Curry is the co-founder of Slyce, a social media publishing and tracking platform for brands and influencers, but acknowledged that in the future he would also be interested in investing in other tech products that he doesn’t use.
“Being here in the Bay Area, you definitely feel that energy with people that you meet and people from Silicon Valley and all over the place that those opportunities hopefully will be down the road for sure,” Curry said.
