ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith Reveals Exceedingly Ambitious Career Goal

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is one of the most renowned sports media members on the planet. The 55-year-old hosts his own podcast, Know Mercy, produces his own TV program, NBA in Stephen A’s World and is the face of the popular debate show First Take

While his efforts have seen him become one of the most recognizable figures in sports, Smith admitted he’s chasing a loftier goal than merely becoming the top sports media talent.

During an interview on the Tamron Hall Show, Smith revealed he’s hoping that by the time his career ends, he will be considered one of the greatest figures in television history.

“First order of business is perfecting the things I’ve already started. My production company, I want to grow. Everybody talks about stuff like Spike Lee, Tyler Perry, Jerry Bruckheimer. My aspiration is to get to that point,” said Smith. “I’m not satisfied with what I’ve accomplished in television. In the world of sports, yes … but I plan on taking it a step further. I want to end my career being recognized as arguably the greatest television talent in history.”

Smith was met with a round of applause from the live studio audience after he shared his career goal, also revealing that he’s planning to pursue acting as a means to help him achieve his dream.

“That’s what I want to do. That’s what I want to accomplish. … You got to put in the work, and I intend to do just that,” added Smith.

Having already built an impressive platform at ESPN, Smith indicated he’s just getting started when it comes to the overall scope of his career and legacy.
