Reds' Billy Hamilton, Brandon Phillips injured in win vs. Cubs
Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton and second baseman Brandon Phillips exited Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Cubs with injuries that will likely require further tests on Thursday, the team tweeted.
The 23-year-old Hamilton, who just weeks ago was named NL rookie of the month for June, was seen grabbing his left hamstring during his last at-bat and was subsequently double-switched out by manager Bryan Price in the eighth inning. Three-time All-Star Brandon Phillips hurt his thumb diving for a ball in the eighth inning but x-rays came back negative, the team tweeted.
The Reds are second in the NL Central heading into Thursday's series finale vs. Chicago.
