The Philadelphia Phillies have reportedly made Cole Hamels available on the trade market for a high price, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are interested.
Last week it was reported that the Phillies were telling other teams that Hamels was not available. His name has been linked to trade rumors as the July 31 deadline approaches, but according to Morosi it will still likely take a very valuable trade offer for Philly to move him.
On Cole Hamels, remember that the Cardinals and Dodgers need a starter and can acquire Hamels without his permission.— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) July 28, 2014
Hamels is 5-5 with a 2.72 ERA and 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings in 2014. The 30-year old has spent his entire career with the Phillies.
Philadelphia remains in last place in the NL East with a 46-59 record as of July 27. The Dodgers are in first place by a game and a half in the NL West.
