Derek Jeter's single to tie Honus Wagner on hits list changed to error
When Derek Jeter hit an infield single on Aug. 8 against the Indians, the Yankees shortstop tied Honus Wagner for sixth place on the career hits list with 3,430, meaning his hit the following day, also an infield single, put him ahead of Wagner.
But that changed on Tuesday, as Major League Baseball changed the ruling on the Aug. 8 hit to an error.

That means his double down the right-field line in Baltimore on Aug. 11 was the hit that passed Wagner. Yankees trainer Steve Donohue retrieved that ball for Jeter, fearing the tying hit could be ruled an error.
"So there's no story," Jeter told MLB.com on Tuesday. "I got another hit. I got the other ball."
The 40-year-old, who announced he will retire at the end of the season, had 3,436 career hits entering Tuesday's game against the Astros.
